Chris

Chris is a man born on April 19, 1996. He was born with a hearing disability. However, Chris has always wanted to be an independent person. He does not want to be a burden even though he has limitations.

"According to my mom, my crying sound when I was born was very soft, almost inaudible," he recalled. When he was little, his mother took Chris to many medical treatment places. Until finally his mother had to accept that Chris was indeed born unable to hear and speak.

Chris does not feel that his flaw is an obstacle for him. He proved this by independently earning money since he was still in school. He did this to help his parents.

Chris once worked as a screen printer in a factory. He also used to work cleaning the school after school hours. Even long before his dreams came true, Chris was already determined to one day become the breadwinner when he got married and had a family.

Chris was introduced to Anita by his teacher when he graduated from SLB/B Kasih Bunda back in 2018. To join DCE, Chris also had to go through various tests first. Mrs. Anita herself guided him.

Just like the others, Chris has good potential and Mrs. Anita saw it. Even though when they first met, Chris had absolutely no skills in handicrafts. "Mrs. Anita gave directions and guidance until I could make rosaries and other creations," he shared. Getting more skilled day by day, he is now accustomed to making seven rosaries a day. Not only that, Chris is also an expert in making bracelets and jade crafts. There are so many things Chris has gained from DCE. Slowly, his desire to be independent came true.

Finally in 2023, he got married. It did not stop there, Chris successfully bought a house. Incredible. His dream was achieved through the savings he had from his hard work at DCE.

Chris was also able to buy a motorcycle for himself and his father in law. His intentions are so noble and touching. He does not only think about his own needs, but also the needs of others. To his other friends with disabilities, Chris always gives encouragement to keep trying and working hard. He believes that DCE is very helpful in being a platform for him to grow. Here at DCE, Chris can be creative with many things. Endlessly, Chris continues to express his gratitude for his achievements.
