Alamwati

Wati, a woman born in 1968, was born unable to hear and speak. "When I was born, there was almost no crying sound," she recalled. Wati was eventually enrolled at SLB/B Cicendo in Bandung. There, she mastered several skills, namely sewing and embroidery. Unfortunately, she only completed her education up to the third grade of elementary school due to financial constraints.

Crochet Artist

Before joining DCE, Wati honed her skills in several places. She once took a sewing course. She even tried working as a garment factory worker. For five long years, she also worked as a shirt tailor in the Tangerang area.

She put in all this effort because she did not want to burden her parents. Wati also wanted to be independent and be able to give them some pocket money.

In 2017, Wati was introduced to Mrs. Anita who was active at LDD at the time. However, it was not until 2019 that Wati finally joined DCE. Joining DCE made Wati even more enthusiastic about creating her craft. She felt motivated by the spirit of her other friends with disabilities.

Her knitted rabbit dolls and Fatima dolls have even become customer favorites. One thing that also makes her grateful and happy is when Anita and the buyers appreciate her creations, as well as the work of her friends. She feels truly seen. And she is thankful for this blessing.
